Who knew apple cider vinegar had so many uses? Madeline Given did! Learn something new

I use vinegar to clean my house, but really was clueless to the seemingly endless list of things apple cider vinegar can do for your life! I received this Apple Cider Vinegar Cure book in exchange for my honest opinion.
This book is well-laid out and explains the many health and life benefits of apple cider vinegar. I particularly found the section on skin care useful and how the application of apple cider vinegar to bug bites and sunburn can help "pull out" the sting and heal more quickly. Being of incredibly pale skin and apparently very delicious to bugs, I am looking forward to trying this out next summer.

The book has a ton of recipes using apple cider vinegar in your everyday life from cooking to cleaning, self care to gardening. Considering how inexpensive a jug of apple cider vinegar is these days, I can see this being a super way to save money in your life while getting even better benefits than you did with your old way of doing things. I have been using this in my laundry as an alternative to fabric softener and enjoy that my clothes are super soft without the chemical backlash.

More than just a fad, a great resource for herbal medicines and products.

I haven't really used much apple cider vinegar at all in my life, but recently I've started having stomach issues. So I began researching things that might be good for my stomach, but wouldn't cause my gall bladder issues as I have gallstones. While I don't think apple cider vinegar will dissolve my gall stones and I'll be all better, it for sure doesn't do any harm. I have been able to consume it with no gall bladder pain, nor any stomach discomfort. I liked all the different uses, not just foods but products that I can use that work really well and don't cost a ton. I have pretty bad dandruff so I'm wary of the products I use for my hair. The wrong product will dry out my hair causing oily nastiness and a frizzy mess. I made the recipe for shampoo buildup and apply it three times a week, which is when I wash my hair. It helps to cut down on the oiliness and leaves my hair more manageable. The best thing is it's so affordable, way cheaper than the $8 bucks I spent on my hair serum. I recently started having trouble with sore throat and checked the book, yup they've got a recipe in there for that too. I'm going to try baking the chocolate cake recipe in the book, I've cooked with applesauce before, but definitely not vinegar. I like that the book doesn't try to convince you that apple cider vinegar is some miracle ingredient that will cure everything. It's an easy and simple book that tells you some benefits of consuming apple cider vinegar. I was quite surprised when reading it and was even more surprised after I made some of the products and they worked. The recipes are great and most don't need a ton of ingredients. I think it'll be a welcomed addition to your home even if it's just another recipe book. I received this book at discount in return for my honest review, all opinions are my own.

Things my mother tried to tell me but I didn't listen....

After reading "The Apple Cider Vinegar Cure" I am a believer in the benefits of using it. In Madeline Given's book you will learn some of the history of Apple Cider Vinegar dating back to 3000BC, You will also learn how to make it from apple scraps. I learned about unique remedies for personal use from foot care to hand and face to helping with problems of the stomach. There is even a recipe for getting rid of "fruit flies"! Then in the final section of the book you will find 75 easy to make recipes for using apple cider in recipes you cook all of the time most only call for one or two tablespoons of vinegar. I believe we can improve our health and appearance by incorporating a small amount of Apple Cider Vinegar into our everyday life. I received this book for free for my honest opinion but that did not influence my review. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and learning many helpful things.

If you use A/D chips and need a reference this is it

This book is not a textbook in the traditional college
text mode, but can take a practicing engineer through the
basics of A/D to a particular application. I have it on my
shelf and when I need to know a particular issue about A/D
performance and what engineering tradeoffs are involved in
a particular design, this is the starting point. It naturally
is heavy on Analog Devices chips and solutions, but it gives
the astute engineer insight into the utility of the various
metrics in a given chip's data sheet. It also can give clues
into what metrics can be misleading depending on how their
tests are setup (This is probably more critical). I have the
third edition and it doesn't cover delta-sigma A/D converters
adequately

This book was inspired by my work with Jails to Jobs. a Section 501c3 public charity that gives formerly incarcerated jobseekers the tools they need to find employment. We offer job search preparation counseling for soon-to-be-released inmates in several jails and prisons and maintain a website with job search information for those with barriers to employment.

Our newest venture is in the area of tattoo removal, as anti-social and gang-related tattoos are the ultimate "job stoppers." We maintain a directory of more than 200 free and low-cost tattoo removal programs in 37 states on our website and have created a how-to guide and outreach program that teaches doctors, clinics, hospitals and tattoo removal specialists how to create a free or low-cost community-based program to perform tattoo removals.

Readable, Understandable, and Enormously Helpful

As someone with nearly 12 years experience as a volunteer teacher in jails and prison, I read this book with real excitement, because I’m sure it will be life-changing for many.
"Jails to Jobs: Seven Steps to Becoming Employed" is realistic about how hard it is for formerly incarcerated individuals to get hired, and it’s encouraging in showing that hurdles are not insurmountable. It’s a treasure chest of practical advice, ideas, models, ways to frame difficult issues, and many, many resources. Its tone is that of an experienced, helpful friend who says “This is how you get a good job. You can do this. Here are steps to follow. Let’s start the process.”
I think this book would also be invaluable for young people seeking their first real job, or for those who may have been working for years but need to find a new job. Because it doesn’t assume the job-seeker has a college education or easy avenues to employment, its advice and resources start with basics and go from there. Reading it, I learned of many helpful programs, agencies, and organizations that I had never heard of!
"Jails to Jobs: Seven Steps to Becoming Employed" is readable, understandable, and enormously helpful. I’ll be telling others about it and donating copies to the library of the jail where I currently volunteer. If our prisons and jails gave a copy of this book to every employment-motivated individual they release, the money would be well spent!

There are so many specific suggestions in this book, if you do any 10 of them you'll improve your chances of finding a job. If you seriously follow through the seven steps, you can be confident your growing job search skills will present your best self to the right potential employers. And – here's a secret – you don't have to be in reentry from detention to benefit from the sound advice in these pages.

About the Author
Tim Lieuwen is a professor in the School of Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr Lieuwen has edited two books, written seven book chapters and more than 200 papers and holds three patents. Dr Lieuwen previously chaired the combustion and fuels committee of the International Gas Turbine Institute of the ASME. He is currently on the propellants and combustion technical committee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and previously served for five years on the AIAA air breathing propulsion technical committee. He has served on a variety of major panels and committees through the National Research Council, the Department of Energy, NASA, the General Accounting Office and the Department of Defense. Dr Lieuwen is interim editor-in-chief of the AIAA Progress in Astronautics and Aeronautics series and has served as an associate editor of the Journal of Propulsion and Power, Combustion Science and Technology and the Proceedings of the Combustion Institute. He is a Fellow of the ASME and is the recipient of numerous awards, including the AIAA Lawrence Sperry Award, the ASME Westinghouse Silver Medal, ASME best paper awards, Sigma Xi Young Faculty Award and the NSF CAREER award.

Valuable addition to my bookshelf

Combustion dynamics is inherently an interdisciplinary and multi-physics subject. Students, researchers and practitioners in the field, all stand to benefit from this book. Its' like a one-stop-shop that covers the right mix of fluid-mechanics, acoustics, turbulence and combustion that is required to understand this complex subject

A lot of researchers in the field will point out that there is a "translation problem" between people who do experiments and others who develop analytic models. The former present data without supporting models. The latter write papers that are dense and require multiple readings and the reader often finds himself sourcing a lot more papers to understand certain concepts. In this book, topics are presented from a physical point of view that elucidates complex concepts with all rigor, but with more transparent and self-contained derivations. Like the chapter on using the G-equation to model flame dynamics. I would bet that it is second to none. It also gives experimentalists a lot of ideas to develop models.

In the area of turbulent combustion, I can't think of any book out there that is not written by researchers who do simulations for people who do simulations. This book is a departure from that mould; it benefits both experimentalists and people who do simulations.

Despite having graduated a while ago, I vividly remember the repeated trips I used to make to the library scanning papers from various journals to get my head wrapped around the subject when I started off as a graduate student. Graduate students who start now do not have to go through this effort any more

It's a welcome addition to my bookshelf. I have since moved a lot of papers on my table to the recycle bin.

Excellent book

The subject of combustion dynamics has hitherto been restricted to the realm of research papers. This is an excellent book that fills a much needed gap in the textbook literature on the subject. The book brings together concepts of fluid mechanical instabilities, combustion and acoustics in a very lucid and intuitive fashion that makes it a definitive must read for novice graduate students as well as experienced design engineers. The author has brought to bear his deep understanding of fundamental phenomena whose interaction causes combustion instability, matched with practical experience forged over many successful years of industrial collaboration in this research area to produce a work of outstanding practical and intellectual value. I would strongly recommend the book to anyone who is interested in understanding the dynamical behaviour of unstable combustors and unsteady reacting flows in general.

Highly required book & awesome author

I highly recommend this book to folks in the combustion community. There are very few text books on modern combustion concepts -- this book is the first of its kind and is something the combustion community has been waiting for. Lots of Mechanical/Aerospace students (including myself) looked to read papers and understand the concepts. Tim does a wonderful job in bringing all this together in a book that every combustion engineer needs and I wish I had this book when I was in grad school.

Suitable for a class or for self-study. Fundamental concepts are clearly explained and the material is presented in a very attractive and easy to read way. Tim's significant interactions with the industry has given him an insight for explaining the fundamentals of these complex topics. Being an expert in the field of unsteady combustion coupled with his excellent communication and organization skills, he has written a wonderful book.
