About the Author
Jim Anderson has coached and developed hundreds of leaders and professionals in Fortune 500 Companies and public sector organizations since 1980. He has conducted countless seminars and professional development programs on leadership, management, professional success and related topics as well as served on the faculty within the Michigan State University Graduate School of Business and the University of Colorado in Boulder. Jim is co-founder of the Greenbrier Leadership Institute, GreenbrierLeadership.com, in Lewisburg, West Virginia. He also founded M.S.R. Corporation, an executive management consulting business in 1980 operating in Colorado. Jim and his family reside in the Denver area.

Outsanding, exceptional book on leadership for the 21st century

Principle-Based Leadership: Driving Your Success as a Leader by Jim Anderson provides a template for leadership-dynamics for the 21st century. If we look around the country at major corporations, we expose corruption-riddled elites who follow the tracks of Michael Douglas in his epic movie "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps". Sadly, our own U.S. Congress replicates that treachery as to governing our country. We see the results: debt, failure, endless squabbling and crippling results for U.S. Citizens.
Enter Anderson's book! He spells out a path of excellence that leads to positive results. He shows men and women how to become outstanding leaders at every level of business and beyond. I especially appreciated his black-box vignettes that drove home his points: "The accomplishments of great leaders are not about power. They are about results." Additionally, "The most worthwhile self-development begins with individuals deciding to take personal responsibility for their own growth and success."

A "Must Read" for anyone wanting to improve their Leadership Skills

Principle-Based Leadership should be required reading for anyone that wants to improve their leadership skills. It is applicable to those currently holding a leadership role, those that aspire to be a leader, or people looking to have a more fulfilling professional or personal life.
Jim Anderson does an excellent job of providing a game plan to follow to become a better leader. The structured approach provides motivation by citing examples of leadership demonstrated by well known leaders from the past and present. The presentation of the historical results of such assessment tools as the Most Preferred Leadership Quality Survey allow the reader to understand the twelve most important leadership qualities, and the importance of each. Case studies are provided to allow the individual to work independently, or with others to apply the concepts learned from the text to theoretical situations.
I found the goal setting portion of the book at the end to be very helpful. It inspired me to reflect on what I had learned from the text, prioritize what was important to improve my leadership skills, and create a set of goals to use to apply these principles to my leadership style and behaviors.

Outstanding book and worth every minute of the time spent reading it.

Jim Anderson's "Principle Based Leadership - Driving Your Success as a Leader" should sit on the desk and/or night stand of anyone granted the privilege of leading a team, any team. Mr. Anderson's easy to read book outlines not just the practical steps one should be taking in order to become a better leader, but also explores the framework of overriding principles to help us better understand the premise from which we should all start. To be candid, as I read the book, I thought of dozens of situations in which I would start applying the concepts and strategies Mr. Anderson outlines in his text, and many of them were not in relation to my career. Many of the areas where I found Mr. Anderson's perspectives to be extraordinarily useful were in regard to my interactions with family, friends, and community. That is where this book's true value add resides, it will undoubtedly help you in your career, but as a handsome bonus, it will help you in your personal life as well. Good read, and will remain on my shelf from now on.
