About the Author
Lynn B. Hoeltke, M.B.A., M.T. (A.S.C.P.), P.B.T, D.L.M., works for a leading hospital laboratory in the Midwest. In addition to more than 40 years' experience in various laboratory leadership roles, Mr. Hoeltke has taught on the technical college level, developed and taught a nursing-based program for a hospital, and taught phlebotomy as a career development program for entry-level laboratory positions. He also has served as phlebotomy advisor with Evena Medical to develop infrared imaging as a tool to find veins for venipuncture, and he has consulted with several nursing homes and laboratories in teaching phlebotomy techniques to their staff. Mr. Hoeltke has published several magazine articles, has been a contributing textbook author for COMPREHENSIVE MEDICAL ASSISTING, and is the author of multiple phlebotomy texts, including THE CLINICAL LABORATORY MANUAL SERIES: PHLEBOTOMY, and PHLEBOTOMY: PROCEDURES AND PRACTICE by Delmar, Cengage Learning. He has also assisted in the production of a Phlebotomy Skills Video Review based on the procedures in his textbook.

Dirty used book!

This book was sold as used in good condition. It was very used with dirty worn pages and completely scribbled in throughout the entire book. I was definately over charged @ $89.....but I needed it for a class and didn't have time to return it, so I kept it. Big disappointment.

Book priced to high for the condition it was. Water damage on a lot of pages some pages stuck together had to pull apart. Paid 85$ for the book. The only thing good. The person who had it before wrote a lot of helpful notes.

It's an average phlebotomy textbook got it for my phlebotomy college course. It's super short and my instructor has even said it doesn't go into enough detail.

When stretching and improving awareness, one of the most important considerations is Tensegrity which is a contraction of the terms Tension and Integrity.

Tension is what allows us to feel our body in general. While it is relatively easy to learn to feel muscular activity and the tension generated within the belly of a muscle when it is active, connective tissue tension is something we can learn to feel when muscles are relaxed.

If we learn to feel this tension, and relaxed stretching is one way to learn to feel it, then we can not only improve body awareness, but also our ability to control our body and respond quickly, even instantaneously.

One of the keys to learning to feel this tension is to move slowly and smoothly. But another key is to focus on isolated elements.

After awareness (and control) is developed in isolation it can then be used in integrated "whole body" movements or postures.

Many of the stretches are based on stretches that I first learned from Andrey Lappa, one of my most important yoga teachers. But I've also developed exercises based on my own experiences from studying Tai Ji and Kung fu and from teaching (and doing) yoga for the last 15 years.

Scholarly but Relatively Narrow Focus

The secondary title of the first edition of this book was A History of Communism in Kampuchea, 1930-1975. This is perhaps a more accurate description of the nature of this book. Kiernan presents a careful reconstruction primarily of the politics of leftist-communist movements in Cambodia, focusing in the later part of the book on how Pol Pot and his associates came to dominate the Cambodian Communist Party. This is not really a history of the Cambodian independence movement and while a very valuable book for understanding the events leading up to the Khmer Rouge accession to power, is not really a narrative/analysis of that phenomenon. Kiernan undertook the difficult task of reconstructing the internal politics of the Cambodian Communist movement and placing this in the context of leftist/nationalist movements in Cambodia from 1930 to the Khmer Rouge victory. In many ways, this is the story of how circumstances and the ruthless efforts of a small group of determined ideologues, mainly though not exclusively of relatively privileged background, conspired to allow this clique to dominate what was originally a relatively broad based nationalist/revolutionary movement. Because of scanty documentation and the deliberate efforts of the Khmer Rouge to obscure their history, this is quite a difficult undertaking which Kiernan carries off well. Kiernan covers the history of nationalist and leftist movements in Cambodia, the emergence of the Cambodian Communist movement, the internal struggles within the party between Vietnamese influenced communists and the Pol Pot group, and how the events of the civil wars of the 60s and early 70s allowed Pol Pot's group to dominate.

Kiernan is not, unfortunately, a gifted writer. His method is primarily to present a narrative with primary reliance of provision of much of the primary data. This can lead to a losing sight of the forest for the trees effect. He also does not produce much formal analysis, tending to make his interpretations implicitly. In some ways, the best piece of structural analysis in the book is the brief overview in the Introduction.

All of that said, there are quite a few compelling aspects to the book. There are multiple, often cruel ironies. In the second half of the 50s, Sihanouk, in an effort to divide the left, actually provided patronage for the urbanized intellectual leftists like Pol Pot who later became the most bitter opponents of his regime. Kiernan shows that the virulent nationalism of the Khmer Rouge in some ways had more in common with the bizarre nationalism of the corrupt and incompetent American client Lon Nol than with their Vietnamese-influenced competitors. The Nixon administration's bombing campaign in 1973 probably saved the Lon Nol regime but also allowed Pol Pot's group to consolidate their grip on power. Khmer Rouge success in 1973 would probably have resulted in a less brutal regime. This is an important book, though not easy to read.

Indispensible

This is THE book on the history of Cambodia in that era and the Khmer Rouge. There are very few Western scholars who know the Khmer language and are therefore able to do serious research. Ben Kiernan is one of those few. His book is well documented, an excellent introduction with many suggestions for further reading.

Any woman's dream with a simple plan!

What an amazing book!! Every woman dreams of being able to retire their husband, but they don't know how. This book lays out simple action plans to take control of your situation. You finish the book with the belief that you have the skills and self confidence to take control and retire your husband. My favorite part is the focus on finding people's personal strengths and talents and using that to become successful. This book was written to empower and lift you up.

Practical advice, well written.

The title of this book really suckered me in as I had a nice little chuckle to myself. I had a little fantasy that my wife could pension me off! Instead what I found were practical tips to keep you on the path to success in network marketing. The stories in the book were motivational and I particularly enjoyed the chapter on how do I keep the motivation going. This relates to me personally as I can tend to flatline a bit sometimes.

I think most newbies will find the how to get started chapter the most helpful though as this really is where most people try, fail and then give up. Many of the ideas presented are ways to help you overcome obstacles, particularly the daunting parts like trying to close a sale, which is broken down, analysed and made a lot easier by this book.
The exercises in this book are quite helpful and easy to do.
Overall, there's a fair bit of meat in here, and is definitely useful for the beginners.

This book is little more than a cheerleading promotion for network marketing. It offers no new insight on how to start or run a business. It tells you to make lists (as if most of us weren't making them already), and stay positive. I am positive that if you are looking for a book that will give you some "meat" or specifics on how to start a business, you won't find it here.

A biblical discussion on being wronged

The book offers an interpretation of the bible's teachings on how to approach life after you have been wronged.

This book was not without utility as it directs you to biblical stories to offer guidance. The challenge I had with the book was looking past all the biased comments and opinions (the preaching) that had nothing to do with the topic at hand.

I found myself thinking this book would be better directed to a pastor or minister looking for source materials so he/ she was better prepared to counsel church members or in preparation for a sermin. I did not feel like the intension of the book was to help the reader, rather to convey the opinion of the minister who wrote the book.

I personally found the book light on helpful content, although I did find some of the stories thought provoking and helpful and I know I would not have referenced these stories on my own.

To a person who is trying to recover, unless you are specifically looking for a biblical discussion on forgiveness, I would select something else.
