I bought this book for my father at Christmas time last year. He was in the Marine Corps and said that when reading the book it brought back great memories he had with his Marine Corp buddies. He liked it because it is based on true stories and memories of other Marines.

About the Author
Marilyn B. (Marli) Cole, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA, is a Professor Emeritus of Occupational Therapy at Quinnipiac University, Hamden, Connecticut, and an Occupational Therapy Consultant. After 25 years of teaching, she has now become a full-time writer. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Connecticut, a graduate certificate in occupational therapy from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Bridgeport. Also, she is licensed by the state of Connecticut to practice occupational therapy and is certified by the Center for Study of Sensory Integrative Dysfunction to administer the Southern California Sensory Integration Tests. She has more than 24 years of practice experience in mental health, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Places of employment include Eastern Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute in Philadelphia, and Middlesex Memorial Hospital, Lawrence and Memorial Hospitals, and Newington Children’s Hospital, all in Connecticut. While teaching, courses included psychiatric clinical media, group leadership, group dynamics, frames of reference, fieldwork I and II, psychopathology, sensorimotor integration, computer technology lab, evaluation, intervention, problem-based learning, research, and geriatrics. She has also served as a consultant for the West Haven VA Medical Center, the Portland Public Schools, Fairfield Hills Hospital, the Institute of Living, St. Joseph’s Manor, and Baldwin Senior Center, all in Connecticut. In conjunction with Quinnipiac University, she escorted groups of fieldwork students to clinical and community practice sites in England, Costa Rica, and Australia.

In addition to three prior editions of Group Dynamics (1993, 1998, 2005), she has coauthored two books within the past 3 years: Applied Theories in OT (2008), with coauthor Roseanna Tufano of Quinnipiac University, and Social Participation in Occupational Contexts (2010), with coauthor Mary Donohue, retired professor from NYU. Her chapters for other texts include “A Preference for Activity” (1988), “Client Centered Groups” (2008), “Retirement, Volunteering, and End of Life Issues” in Meriano and Latella (2007) OT Interventions, “Theories of Aging” (2008), and “Occupational Theory Development and Organization” in Jacobs and Sladyk (2010) Occupational Therapy Essentials for Clinical Competence.

Marli has presented papers and workshops at professional conferences on many different topics. She has delivered professional presentations to Yale psychiatric residents, the Connecticut Occupational Therapy Association, the New York State Occupational Therapy Association, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), the American Psychology Association (APA), the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA), and the World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT).

Recently, Marli has edited a special edition of the Occupational Therapy International Journal on OT in the Third Age, focusing on the transition to retirement and productive occupations of older adults worldwide. She and husband Marty are at home in Stratford, Connecticut, and Freeport, Bahamas.

This is an excellent book for occupational therapy students in the classroom and clinical settings. It list examples of group activities outlining the seven stage group format at the same time implementing the various frames of references. This book saved me and I would recommend it to every student.

This book was ok. The heroine was kinda whiny and weak. The hero had no consideration for her and expected after marrying her without her knowledge or consent and dropping her with zero contact for five years, that she'd just jump into being his wife. It was kind of a unbelievable story line. I mean what women after not hearing from a guy for 5 years would jump into bed with a guy. I mean even a guy she loved she'd be pissed and bitter enough to put up some fight! And why make her such a wuss? She's scared of spiders, animals, bugs, water, flying, driving, strangers, etc. couldn't she just have one phobia? It makes her very unlikable. You think "oh she's got her stuff together" in the beginning of the book only to find out he owned her apartment building. All her neighbors and maintenance guy are bodyguards. Her neighbor/friend that helps her with her son is a hired nanny. Her job is a company he bought so she could get paid a lot to do easy work. She just annoyed me.

Did not finish reading, stopped at 60% -- I don't feel love between the main characters

I bought this book because I really liked "The Sheik's Angry Bride" and I decided to go back and read Zahir's story. I don't care for Callie in this story. She is too negative when it comes to Zahir. She doesn't want anything to do with him, she doesn't want to go back to his country, she doesn't want him to know about his son (moot point), she doesn't want to believe they are married, she doesn't believe in the peace negotiations with his warring countries, she doesn't agree with the way he's trying to raise his son for responsibility, she is denying her attraction and her place in Zahir's life. After five years, Zahir comes to get his family to bring them back home. But I do not feel any love there, more like an obligation. All we get are references about her time in captivity, we are not told the story in that timeline, it is five years later. She is jealous of his time with his son, because now she has to share him, when it used to be only the two of them (mother and son).

Ms. E's book is delightful as always, with enough humor, romance, and dialogue to keep it interesting. The characters are well-developed and the book moves right along. I would've given Ms. E. 5 stars but there were too many unanswered questions in my mind. For example (to name a few):

1. This book picks up from the book "Dancing with the Dangerous Prince" that involved Crown Prince Zoran of Larcatia and Princess Ciara of Altair. If Sheik Zahir is now the ruler of Larcatia, what happend to Zoran and Ciara? We they exiled? Killed? All that is mentioned is that there was a "dramatic change in the leadership of the other 3 countries" and "last of the old guard died 6 months ago". I would think the parents of Zoran and Ciara might have died, but them? They were young and just beginning their married lives when the war broke out.

2. Is Zahir a younger brother of Zoran? Cousin? I'm confused.

3. The book ended upbruptly with Callie refusing to tell Zahir about her kidnapping and she finds out Zahir had been tortured, but he won't talk about that either. I guess they go merrily on their way. What really happened with Callie when she was kidnapped? She makes references to it and the reader can fill in the blanks to a certain extent, but more info would've been nice. Same with Zahir and his being tortured. It had to have impacted his life. (Although this question would've been nice to have answered it isn't vital to the story.)

4. They were separated for 5 years, we know Callie lived in Virginia, where she worked and what she did at her job. We know about Luca too, but what about Zahir? He just fought and negotiated for the whole 5 years?

I think if the book had been longer, Ms. E. would've had time to address these issues. I love her books and am so disappointed when they end. I'm just getting ready to settle down for a good read, when the book is over and I think to myself, "What? It just started."

This is an amazing book. I am a Private Pilot with 150 Hours and this is a perfect book for my purposes. He clearly states that it is not a substitute for the POH but is a great reference document when learning and getting up to date on details. I would highly recommend this book to all pilots and students. Its a must buy for the cost.

The book is a good book for learning to fly the R44. It's not a replacement for the FAA's Helicopter guide for flight knowledge but this book will guide you through aircraft specifics. There are several grammar and spelling errors too

So so good and funny, all ages can appreciate.

Our household didn't think this book would ever be released! My boys (12 & 8) loved the first one and could not wait for the second, it did not disappoint! My 12yo actually read it twice and giggled through it just as hard the second time! So, when can we expect book 3???? (please) My boys like it better than Big Nate even.

Funny, but ultimately disappointing

Niles and Miles are back. This ranking team, known as The Terrible Two, are ready for another year of pranking their school, especially their power-loving principal, Principal Barkin. Unfortunately, one of their pranks leads Principal Barkin to losing his job, and now he's been replaced with a much more stern principal, who is out to shut down all pranking.

I straight-up loved Book 1. It was so fun! I frequently recommend it to my 4th and 5th grade students who are looking for something funny to read, and so far they have all loved it. So my students and I were super excited for Book 2. The first third or so of The Terrible Two Gets Worse totally lived up to my expectations. I Laughed Out Loud on almost every page.

Unfortunately, I have to break the news to them that I didn't end up loving it, and that I'm not sure I'll get a copy for our classroom. Here's why -

The pranks in the first book were elaborate, creative, and harmless. There were awesome diagrams accompanying several, and the authors did a brilliant job of incorporating the cows of Yawnee Valley. The first book was outrageous, and that's why so many of us love it.

This second installment simply doesn't do the same things. The pranks are too typical, easy for kids to duplicate, and far from harmless. They put peppers in people's drinks, pull the fire alarm, and drop someone's pants. I've seen this book referred to by another reviewer as mean-spirited, and I totally agree. To make it worse, there are no cows! And no elaborate diagrams! Where is the creativity? Where is the outrageousness?

Overall, I'm hoping that this is just a Second Book Slump, and that the next installment will revive the potential of Book 1.

Excellent, but Aggravating

This an excellent book with a lot of great first-hand information on knives and their usage, and is well worth the price. The author did an excellent job, and whetted my appetite for an autobiography from him. He has obviously BTDT and knows his subject thoroughly.

My only gripes on the book are with the photos and captions. There were a couple of captions that obviously did not match the photos they were with and careful proofing should have caught these.

Secondly, and probably of lesser importance, I have never before seen a book with such intrusive copyright notifications. Putting them into the photo captions without at least changing the size and style of the font was quite distracting and eventually quite irritating.

Great Book!

The Tactical Knife is an instant classic. It's the book on tactical knives that blade aficionados have been waiting for for more than a decade. Personal anecdotes, testing standards and a logical but EXPERIENCED approach to the topic are what really set the book apart. The fact that the writer is a skilled wordsmith doesn't hurt either :).

Look Elsewhere

This book reads like the author got all of his information from youtube reviews and forums, without bothering to differentiate between the informed and uninformed opinions. Some of the information is correct, but some of it is also clearly wrong. The author lacks any knowledge of important knife aspects like steel composition, ergos, and edge geometry. Based on some of the knives he chose to include, I'm not sure he even has a clear idea of what a tactical knife is (Seems like he just added it into the title to sell copies). He gives short positive reviews for everything rather than explain the features that make the knife good or bad. He encourages readers to go out and buy knives that were discontinued even at the time of the writing, and he omits many important newer models he could have talked about. The book is full of blatant typos, misspellings, and unfinished sentences, and is written with the literary tone of a middle schooler. I've looked carefully through this book, but I can't find any redeeming qualities.

Fast, delivery, great condition, and well priced. There was some marker marks on the pages, as seen when the book is fully closed. I would used this vendor again and again.
