The collection is not afraid to provide glimpses of how poorly America has treated some of its immigrants and paints an accurate depiction of how these immigrants found their experience in America upon entry.

Because of its diverse collection of stories, no stone is left unturned. I would highly recommend this text to teachers and students alike, as well as those seeking to understand the "salad" that is America.

I'm pretty mixed on this book. Some of the chapters are very clear, concise and helpful. Others kind of leave you scratching your head. Were there multiple authors?

Better than many of the other textbooks that tackle the subject

I've read a few epidemiology textbooks and this one has been the most accessible of the bunch - although including formulas and their explanations there is plenty of content that isn't focused on formula digestion. It also presented observational studies, and case-control study designs in particular, in a more contemporary and balanced light without the disdain that is easily recognized in other texts. As a textbook or access point for interested readers I think it serves quite well.

Quite good. However in P359, the standard for choosing which result to present is incorrect. And the most important thing is that it's too expensive for me. Moreover, such kinds of books really don't help at all and it is shallow and so easy to understand. If you are taking similar lecture, I don't recommand you buy this book because it's not neccessary.

It can come across as a little teacherly at times, but the great value of this book is that it's a systematic consideration of each chapter of Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life, 3rd Edition: Life-Changing Tools for Healthy Relationships (Nonviolent Communication Guides). I understand Rosenberg's work better because of the commentary in this book. I think it serves well as a guide for self-study, as well as being useful for a practice group that wants to center their work around the book. Lucy Leu has been there and done that when it comes to sharing NVC, and it shines through in this work.

Carol Yacht is a textbook author and accounting educator. Carol contributes regularly to professional journals and is the Accounting Section Editor for Business Education Forum, a publication of the National Business Education Association. She is the author of Dynamics-GP (Great Plains), Peachtree, Microsoft Office Accounting, QuickBooks, and Excel textbooks; and the accounting textbook supplement, Carol Yacht’s General Ledger and Peachtree CD-ROMs (www.mhhe.com/yacht). Carol taught on the faculties of California State University, Los Angeles; West Los Angeles College; Yavapai College; and Beverly Hills High School. Since 1978, Carol has included software in her classes to help students master accounting.

Carol Yacht is an officer of the American Accounting Association’s Two-Year College section and recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award. She is a member of the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance Advisory Council; served on NBEA’s Computer Education Task Force; worked for IBM Corporation as an education instruction specialist; and is a frequent speaker at state, regional, and national conventions. Carol earned her MA degree from California State University, Los Angeles; BS degree from the University of New Mexico, and AS degree from Temple University.
