Pat Laprade is the creator of the first Quebec wrestling Hall of Fame and yearly awards. He contributes to the websites for SLAM! Sports wrestling and the "Wrestling Observer." He lives in Montreal, Quebec. Bertrand Hebert is the former creative mind behind Northern Championship Wrestling in the 1990s, helping to usher the Montreal territory into the independent era of the sport. He lives in Beauharnois, Quebec.

Incredible research

I've read 99% of all pro wrestling books written and this one is near the top of the food chain. It is incredibly researched and offered a tremendous history into wrestling in Montreal. Even though I'd followed wrestling history, I had no idea of Andre The Giant's strong roots in the territory and the importance of Dino Bravo to the territory. If I have any quibble with the book, and it's minor, one is made to feel that Jean Pierre Lafitte was an important figure in the WWF in the mid 90's, when he was mostly used as a midcarder. That is nothing against the guy as I remember viewing an incredible opening match he had with Bob Holly in a nearly empty madison square garden in the mid 90's.

How about a biography focused on the Rougeaus as a follow up?

Excellent research by the authors! They took a look at a territory that is often forgotten but at one time was a hugely successful and thriving territory. Thank you guys and I look forward to your other projects!

I have recommended this book to others in, and if you have an interest in wrestling history this is a great book for you! Having been in contact with one of the authors through the years (Patric Laprade) I know how much effort went into researching the project. A great book for sure!

A wrestling book not to be missed!

Pat and Bert's book is an amazing walk back to the lost era of professional wrestling in Montreal. As an old-school wrestling fan this is one of those books that is hard to put down once you start reading it. It's full of great stories, breathtaking photos and immediately takes you back to the 1970s and 80s in Montreal. Back to a time when professional wrestling was still "real" and not sports entertainment! I give this book my highest recommendation and am confident you won't be disappointed.

Thanks and bravo for a seminal book!

I was diagnosed with intermediate or moderate dry age related macular degeneration within the past year. It was fortuitous I learned this before suffering any vision loss. One of my parents had lost vision from AMD, and I unfortunately inherited genes that predispose me to have this too.

Having seen how a life can be decimated by AMD, I've been highly motivated to try to prevent vision loss. My view is, if something might help and won't hurt, I want to do it. Even the top retinologists offer little one can do for dry AMD, other than saying don't smoke, take AREDs supplements (one size fits all), and use the Amsler grid daily so you'll know if dry turns to wet and we can start right away to put injections into your eye.

But by "beating the bushes," I've stumbled onto the view that lifestyle changes can indeed alter the outcome. I've changed my diet, am exercising every single day, focusing on getting adequate and good quality sleep, and taking care to block harmful blue as well as ultraviolet light. Lo and behold, this book corroborates everything I'm doing AND adds some additional possible arrows for my quiver, including microcurrent stimulation as well as stress reduction. So I am very eager to meet with Dr Miller and get going on these other areas he has introduced me too in his book.

I love knowing the concept that genes can be turned on and off, which he calls epigenetics. What he wrote all makes total sense to me.

AMD is present and lurking in the wings in enormous numbers of people. Concepts like those in this book should make it a best seller. Unfortunately, the fact that most doctors of Western medicine don't know much about prevention and integrative approaches and the fact that most patients are sheep make it hard to reach the masses with this important information.

A must-read book for patients with eye disease and most practitioners

Most physicians believe that little can be done to effectively restore vision in someone with macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa and various less-common eye diseases, but that just isn't the case. I am an integrative medical doctor, USA board-certified in internal medicine and cardiology and I have witnessed retinitis pigmentosa and both wet & dry macular degeneration reversed using treatment programs very similar to those described by Dr. Damon Miller in his book, "Stem Cells Heal Your Eyes...". I know Dr. Miller personally and he is a very knowledgeable, skilled and caring physician. When I read his book, I was extremely impressed with the way it is written as a very understandable, comprehensive guide for both patients with eye diseases (and their families) as well as for practitioners wanting to help their patients with eye diseases. That is why I rated this book with the highest rating possible. Approximately ten percent of the US population have macular degeneration. The earlier that Dr. Miller's treatment recommendations in this book are started, the greater is the chance of full recovery of vision in people with these chronic eye diseases. Since none of us know for sure whether we will end up in that ten percent, I believe that everyone should read this book while they still can, so that they will have the knowledge to restore their own vision if they start losing it.

Hope for people with macular degeneration (and some other "hopeless" diseases)

A diagnosis that includes impending blindness is horrifying! The news that the most widespread form of medically incurable blindness--macular degeneration--can be avoided, and even reversed, strikes me as earth-shaking!

Sadly, some so-called "alternative" health practitioners reduce the credibility of their possibly life-supporting messages by practicing lousy science and writing about it in lousy English. Happily, this is NOT the case with "Stem Cells Heal Your Eyes." Dr. Miller's scientific training informs every page of this book, and it is full of numerous fascinating accounts of successful healing, presented in well-written prose that makes for fascinating reading.

This is NOT a "take this pill and your problems will be gone" book. It describes a program worked out over years by courageous, knowledgeable--and sometimes-desperate--researchers. It offers hope to those who are willing to undertake its disciplines.

The disciplines are not onerous, but they are disciplines, and must be followed consistently if you want to achieve the results that many have. They are not expensive; require no special equipment; and are eminently do-able by anyone who chooses to undertake them.

If you, or someone you know, is confronting macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, or any of the other eye diseases mentioned in this book, you or they should read it. It offers credible hope and practical steps for preventing and reversing the ravages of these terrible afflictions.

About the Author
Lee B. Burgunder is professor of law and public policy at California Polytechnic State University, where he has been teaching for 25 years. Professor Burgunder is recognized as a "Distinguished Teacher" at Cal Poly, and is a pioneer in developing technology law courses for undergraduate and graduate programs. He has published numerous articles on intellectual property and technology law issues, and served as co-chair of the technology law section within the Academy of Legal Studies in Business. Professor Burgunder received his law degree and M.B.A. from Stanford University, and practiced law at Patton, Boggs in Washington, D.C., prior to entering academia.

Poorly Updated; Poorly Edited

I purchased this book for a class, and so far I am very disappointed in this book. For being a recent edition, some of the information is very out of date. For example, the book references BountyQuest as a means of searching for prior art in patents, yet fails to realize that the BountyQuest website shut down in 2002 (remember, this edition of the book was (c) 2010). Also, I'm only 4 chapters in and I have already found some glaring spelling and editing errors in the book ("little" spelled "lilttle").

The text of the book is well-written and easy to understand, but better editing and updating would have made me a much more satisfied purchaser.

Update: Also found "Mastercard" spelled "Matercard." Whoops...

Good awareness of issues involving law, technology, and society

This book is the main text for the "Legal Issues in Technology" (SEIS 650) class I am taking this fall at the University of Saint Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota.

It gives one a general overview of intellectual property rights from a technology perspective in the United States, and to some extent in the international space. In particular, one gets a basic understanding of key legal issues surrounding the protection of trade secrets, copyrights, patents, trademarks, and contractual rights pertaining to computer technology and the internet.

This is done through the study of several well written and summarized descriptions of past and current legal cases and decisions made in the United States court system, and also from the perspective of a hypothetical company CoolEdge that is the business of selling an exercise machine called Optimizer. One thing that is made very apparent is the constantly evolving nature of legal constructs and policies, and how they have had to continuously adapt along with changing aspects of technology in the United States and the rest of the world.

All of this covered in 14 chapters and 644 pages, plus two more online - which we did not cover in class. This is a general education book and very well meets it's goal of leaving the reader with an excellent understanding of the various legal issues raised by computer technology. Also with an awareness and need for everyone involved in high technology enterprises to keep abreast of developments in these areas as we continue going about meeting our business and societal goals. If there was something I did not like about the book, is that it did not have questions at the end of each chapter to test and improve one's grasp of concepts and issues discussed, or a list of further readings and references.

Borges after seventy- "plying familiar skills"

In his prologue to this volume Borges speaks about how having lived out the seventy years the Psalmist speaks of as full life he now goes on "plying familiar skills, with an occasional mild variation,and with tedious repetitions" But for those of us who know and love the work of Borges the minor variations are not tedious at all, but rather enrichments in our knowledge of this writer of writers. Borges surprises in the prologue here by citing Browning and Blake as those two who have come closest to realizing his poetic ideal of making 'every moment, every act of existence, poetic'. He also surprises by having just a hint of criticism for Whitman 'whose careful enumerations do not always rise above a kind of crude cataloguing'.
One senses here a bit of Harold Bloom's 'agon' with the student trying to overcome the master. But here I am afraid Borges does not truly succeed, for in spite of all as poet Whitman cannot truly be contended with even by one who brings mirrors and daggers and gold tigers to do so.
In any case poems such as 'Susanna Bombal' '(And behind the myths and masks, her soul , always alone.) 'The Blind Man' ( Only shades of yellow stay with me/ and I can see only to look on nightmares) 'The Search' ' 1971' (Two men walk on the surface of the moon./ Others will later. About the Author

Luís Moniz Pereira, born in Lisbon in 1947, is a Professor of Computer Science (retired) at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and founder and director of CENTRIA (1993-2008), the Centre for Artificial Intelligence at the same University. He was elected a Fellow of the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence (ECCAI) in 2001, received a doctor honoris causa degree from the TU Dresden in 2006 and has been part of the Board of Trustees and the Scientific Advisory Board of IMDEA, the Madrid Advanced Studies Software Institute, since 2006. He is the founding president of the Portuguese Artificial Intelligence Association (APPIA), and serves on the editorial boards of various scientific journals. His research, which he has presented in hundreds of publications, focuses on knowledge representation and reasoning, logic programming, and the cognitive sciences. Currently, he is affiliated with the NOVA Laboratory for Computer Science and Informatics (NOVA-LINCS). Ari Saptawijaya, born in Denpasar (Indonesia) in 1976, is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Indonesia. He received his Master degree in Computational Logic from Technische Universität Dresden in 2004, and a PhD in Informatics from Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2015. His research interests include knowledge representation and reasoning, logic programming, and the cognitive sciences.
