Too big for a "pocket guide"

This is a good book. I love Dutton as he is detailed. I just think it's a little too big for a survival guide. Personally, I bring Michael Wong's pocket book and a FULL sized orthopedic book by Brotzman. Those two make a great 1-2 punch. When I brought this survival book to clinic, I always had to revert to Brotzman, or when I needed something real quick, I always used Wong's pocket book. Then eventually I realized I just needed the other two but not this one.

Great, concise, easy to navigate resource for the clinic

This book is a great, quick resource for the clinic. The kindle edition is easy to navigate with a comprehensive table of contents and search function. This makes it so easy to have with you on your tablet for patient education or to search for a topic while on the go. It is surprisingly comprehensive for a " survival guide". I could not be more pleased with this purchase!

This book is a great reference book for students. Small enough to carry around to clinical affiliations when you need info fast. It offers brief info on various ortho conditions with ther ex suggestions. It also has a differential diagnosis section for the ortho conditions, just in case any red flags appear. I highly recommend this to all PT students.

Great Start, Great Finish, Boredom in Between

This book starts off great. In Part I, the authors provide four classifications of lawyers that depend on the attorney's concern for others and the amount of client autonomy allowed. The classifications are: Godfather, Hitman, Guru, and Friend. It provides a great way to examine your values and decide what type of attorney you want to be (if the names weren't a giveaway, "Friend" is the optimum in the authors' eyes).

Unfortunately this book REALLY drops off from there on out (until the very end). Part II examines values, highlighting Justice, Mercy/Care, and Truthfullness. This section gets exceedingly "preachy" and is filled with the morally obvious and provides little inspiration. It was not particulalry interesting and a bit of a chore to complete.

Part III is subdivided into two chapters. The first chapter is absolutely horrible. For some reason the authors decided to make the whole chapter about Trollope's novel, 'The Warden'. It's a disorganized cut-and-paste job with multi-page excerpts and little glue holding them together.

The book concludes on a positive note, however, emphasizing the importance of working moral considerations into your client interactions. I'd give five stars for Part I and the final chapter. Unfortunately there's some mild torture in the middle that drops the overall rating to three.

Good book, boring subject

Used this book as a textbook for my Professional Ethics class. While Professional Ethics are not the most fascinating subject ever, the book was well written and clear.

Earl Hamner Jr. was born in Schuyler, a village in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. A novelist, author of award-winning teleplays and a respected television producer, his other books include Fifty Roads to Town, You Can't Get There From Here and Spencer's Mountain. Mr. Hamner lives in Los Angeles. Richard Thomas is one of America's most highly gifted, versatile, and respected actors. A veteran of over forty years in entertainment, he is renowned for his Emmy Award-winning portrayal of John-Boy on The Waltons and has appeared in dozens of television movies, feature films, and theatrical productions. His recent works include Taking Woodstock, Wild Hearts, Annie's Point, and the role of Hamilton Whitney III on the series Just Cause. The Waltons wonderful story. It's a winter's eve read. There is the movie called the 'Homecoming as well. The movie has most of the original characters from the 'Waltons' TV series. The movie is in my Christmas movie's collection and watched every year.
The story takes you to a Christmas with a storm causing havoc and the families hope that Pa Walton can get through the storm to be home. After all he has the presents.:) So homey!

Earl Hamner Jr., was an American treasure.

A precursor to the television series The Waltons. This author was so eloquent. I enjoyed hearing him speak as well, it was like listening to poetry.
